My name is Christian Benson, and baseball has been one of the defining passions of my life. My journey in the game has taken me through roles as a player, coach, mentor, administrator, and program builder, and each experience has strengthened my commitment to developing young athletes both on and off the field. In addition to my coaching experience, I have served as the Athletic Director at Rock Academy, a private K-12 school, for the past four years, giving me extensive experience in program management, leadership, event operations, coach development, and student-athlete growth.

Building the program required me to serve as owner, manager, recruiter, fundraiser, marketer, and financier while establishing the organization from the ground up. In 2015, the program was recognized as CSU San Marcos Club Sport of the Year. My story is rooted in an unwavering love for the game. Throughout my playing and coaching career, I was never the most naturally gifted player, nor was I often viewed as someone destined for success in baseball. What I have always been known for, however, is my heart, resilience, and refusal to quit. Baseball has taught me the value of perseverance, humility, and service. Those lessons shape the way I coach today. I strive to bring a fresh perspective that combines the mental and emotional aspects of performance with traditional baseball development. I believe that relationships, trust, and understanding are the foundation of effective coaching. One of my favorite quotes comes from the late Augie Garrido: “A player only cares how much you know when they know how much you care.” That philosophy guides everything I do. I aim to create environments where players feel valued, challenged, and supported while helping them develop not only as athletes but as young men. My approach is built on openness, compassion, observation, and situational awareness. I believe every player has a unique story, and my role as a coach is to help them discover their potential while fostering a lifelong appreciation for the game. I am a product of perseverance, and I hope to pass that same mindset on to every player I have the privilege to coach. |
