Coach Eric is in his fifth season with the San Diego Hawks. Over his career, his teams have amassed 190 wins and earned numerous championship titles. In 2024, he led the Hawks’ first Cooperstown team to the organization’s most successful finish ever, placing 3rd out of 104 teams. Coach Eric has also recruited and developed talented players across all levels, from AA to AAA to D1 Majors. He currently coaches the Hawks 14U Prime team (D1 Majors) recognized as one of the top travel teams in San Diego County and Southern California.
Coach Eric is a recognizable face around San Diego, but long before launching his career as a news anchor and reporter, he was a 3-sport athlete growing up in Minnesota. Baseball, football and hockey kept him busy through his younger years all the way through college. Coach Eric is familiar with the competitiveness of travel baseball, having played on travel teams competing at the national level in his early teen years. It was Eric’s hockey skills that led to him playing Division II hockey at the University of Southern California. As a 4-year Captain, he led teams to numerous conference championships and became USC’s first ever All-American. Over the past decade, Coach Eric has enjoyed coaching both of his sons' numerous baseball and hockey teams. He’s an active volunteer with 4S Ranch Little League, and a hockey coach with San Diego Ice Arena. Coach Eric is also a familiar face on San Diego TV. Since 2017 he’s been waking up many of you each morning as a news anchor on CBS8. He often shares the success stories of the San Diego Hawks program with his loyal viewers.
