Gabriel Esteban (RHP, San Diego City College, FR) stands at 6'1", 160 lbs, and brings solid pitching experience as a freshman right-hander out of Del Norte High School. During the 2024–25 season, he made 11 relief appearances, totaling 19 innings on the mound. He posted a modest ERA, logged work in multi-inning outings—highlighted by a 3-inning stint with 11 strikeouts on March 27—and consistently pitched in mid‑2 to low‑3 inning increments, demonstrating poise and strike-throwing ability.
After some time as a player in the program when he was younger, Coach Gabe is excited to bring his 12 years of experience of playing the game and mentoring younger players to our Hawks organization. He has grown to have a deep passion and understanding for the game. With this knowledge, he has become a firm believer that baseball is the hardest sport in the world and will require lots of failure and learning. Because I have failed so much as a ballplayer, he has gained information that has allowed me to reach high levels with a competitive nature that he brings to every player. Coach Gabe also strongly believes in teamwork and the team you step foot on a baseball field with, will be your second family. As someone who battled many injuries as a young player, he takes health and safety very seriously and will make sure that every player will have the ability to compete at the next level, remain uninjured, and most importantly have fun.
Coach Gabe also has multiple years as a youth baseball coach in our San Diego Hawks program. He has always been one of our most popular coaches at our Summer Baseball Camps (through The Nest Baseball Academy)! He connects with the players, and teaching them the right way to play the game.
