Flex Program

Our program has always been pro-family and it’s the reason we have the best baseball families in San Diego. We want players to have year round opportunities for advanced training, but also have the flexibility for vacations, All Stars, rest, other sports --- whatever is best for that player and family.

We also use this program to support part-time and practice only players.
All players must have a completed waiver in place with our program, to participate.​

Here are the simple logistics:
  • Update Availability whether your player is attending, or not. Being really good at keeping TeamSnap updated is critical to running an organization of our size.
  • Team events at The Nest or at a field will be $20 per, and invoiced at month's end. Games with an umpire will be $30 per player. Open Hitting @ The Nest will be $10 per player.
    • ​First event is always free as you tryout our baseball program.
  • Camps / tournaments / lessons, etc. --- are separate.
  • Monthly total (excluding camps / tournaments) will not exceed monthly dues.
  • Note: We will not send an itemized list of events when we invoice, just the total. If you feel the total is incorrect, you can respond to the invoice email and let us know what the list of events were, and what the total should be. With near 300 players in our program, we do make mistakes, but we work really hard to not --- and to always lead with fairness and customer service.

Practice Only Players

The Practice Only flex program is great in a couple different scenarios:
  1. A player is still developing and not quite ready to compete at the travel baseball level, but the player is coachable and hard working, and can get there.
  2. A player is a good fit for the program in terms of talent and development potential, but we don't have a full spot open for them on one of our current teams. They can start integrating with a team immediately as part of their regularly scheduled practices, and be first in line for the next opening. When there is availability, they can flex into games with the team they practice with, or other teams in the Hawks organization. We have at least 3 teams at every level.
Operational Notes for Practice Only Players
  • No registration fee is due until a player is added to a team full time.
  • Monthly dues are 50% of what the full-time player rate is.
  • Flex pricing is applicable for games the player is added to, and invoiced at the end of the month.
  • Players will get their Hawks number and order their Hawks gear (2 shirts, 2 hats, 1 jersey), and be a part of the organization.

Summer Flex Program : More Info

All events in June and July are part of our flexible Summer Flex Program. While our Flex Program involvement is 100% optional, the development that players make during the Summer and into the Fall program certainly can impact final team placement.

Additional Details
  • Most players that tryout for the San Diego Hawks are looking to join the year round travel baseball organization. We do have room for players that just want some extra Summer baseball as part of the San Diego Hawks but are not sure what their plan is for the Fall yet.
    • Note: We do have a few spots per age group for conditional players that are not guaranteed placement in our full program in the Fall, but are given the opportunity to compete and earn it during the Summer.
  • Players that join or return to our Hawks baseball family are automatically a part of the optional Summer baseball events available through our team management system, that utilizes TeamSnap.
  • Our primary (main) Fall season of Hawks baseball begins in August.
  • Additional 1 on 1 and clinics training are available at The Nest Baseball Academy.

Summer Camps

​In partnership with the The Nest Baseball Academy and Holistic Baseball, the San Diego Hawks are once again running their fun baseball camps at the 4S Ranch Sports Park.
