History - Hawks (Prime)
Over the last 8 years, the Hawks Baseball organization has grown from 2 teams to over 20 teams to be one of the largest and most complete baseball player development programs in San Diego.
Highlights
- In 2024 our 12U Prime team took 3rd/104 teams in Cooperstown (Or made it to the semi-finals out of 124 teams)
- In 2023 our 11U Prime / Elite team was ranked #1 nationally by USSSA
- In 2025 our 13U Prime team has won two-thirds of their games playing against top competition in all events (including PG) and playing up in most events at 60/90 field dimensions.
In 2022, in additional to building our own facility, The Nest Baseball Academy, we launched our San Diego Hawks (Prime) program to support players / teams that are prepared to play at the highest levels of our regional baseball landscape by playing in a true "travel" experience seeking out the best teams to play and compete against.
2022/23 Program : Year 1 results with our 10U (Elite/Prime) and 11U (Elite/Prime) teams receiving national recognition, and going a combined 85-29-2 (as of 4/21/2023) with endless championships.
2023/24 Program : Year 2 is highlighted by our 11U (Prime) team was nationally ranked and continues to search for the best competition they can find.
2024/25 Program : Our Prime brand expanded to include 4 teams that combined to win over a dozen championships while challenging themselves against the best teams in Southern California.
2025/26 Program : We will have teams at the 10U - 14U levels competing at the Prime level.

Next Level LeadershipAndy Parrino : Major League Baseball for the San Diego Padres and Oakland Athletics, and played for Team USA in the Pan Am Games in 2015. Coach Parrino works directly with Hawks Founder, Mark Strauch, to oversee our Prime program and the development of our coaches and player development standards. We have a large coaching staff as part of our San Diego Hawks baseball program, all of whom are available to contribute as part of our larger effort to development ALL of our players, including at the highest level with our Primeprogram. |
Next Level Program Operations
The San Diego Hawks are run by serial entrepreneur and lifelong baseball player / coach, Mark Strauch, whose mission since 2016 has been to bring next level solutions and program design to the world of youth baseball.
He has built and grown multiple baseball businesses from the ground up, including he Hawks Baseball program, which is now one of the largest organizations in San Diego. We have done this by building a next level baseball program that attracts great families that appreciate organization and communication along with next level player development. Our players, parents and coaches are committed to the process --- but are also part of the process, where feedback and communication is encouraged.
Next Level High School ProgramSan Diego Hawks Baseball is committed to bring the best development opportunities to our players from the time they start in our program until they graduate from high school --- and maybe play college baseball!?! To that end... The San Diego Hawks partner with the Derric Waller and 5 Star Baseball (2nd most PG event wins nationally) at the high school level to to give our players next level opportunities that include premium tournaments and college scholarships, but as important, a place where all our players can develop while practicing, playing games and tournaments with next level instruction. |
